Stolen puppy finds a loving home! A heartwarming tale from VetMed Introducing Little Max, a 10 week old, wire-haired Jack Russell puppy. Max was brought in as a stray twice in the space of a week. We were shocked that anyone could lose such a treasure twice in such a short period of time, as was our client, Andrew Gaffney who found Max the first time. Andrew had taken Max home for a few hours before bringing him in to VetMed for microchip scanning. Andrew and his family, including his 2 dogs, Cosby & Sydney, had bonded closely with him in that short time. On the second discovery of Max wandering the streets, Andrew got in touch with Randwick Council. He discovered that Max’s current owners no longer wanted the responsibility of a puppy and were looking to re-home Max. Andrew was quick to say that he would love to adopt little Max and the council organised the change of ownership. We were thrilled to hear this, especially as Cosby, Andrew’s beloved older dog had passed away a couple of days earlier. Cosby and Max had gotten along like a house on fire during their brief time together. We all felt it was meant to be! There was one final twist to this amazing story of fate. A week later we received a phone call from Randwick Police. Max had originally been STOLEN from a pet store in Maroubra! The police had been able to track Max to Andrew, because being a wonderfully responsible pet owner, Andrew had promptly registered Max’s microchip number. We explained the situation and the pet store was so happy Max was safe and sound they agreed to give full ownership to Andrew as long as the original pet store price was paid. We have all been touched by Andrew and his families caring for Max’s welfare. We wish all the best to Max with his new family and look forward to helping to keep Max in the best of health for the rest of his lucky life!
